So our suspision where probably correct – it must be a Uni proxy problem!

And it is!! The Uni proxy is a squid proxy server set up to use only PROXY: BASIC authentication. This means that any application that needs outside access needs to follow NTLM basic authentication. Something php doesn't do!
I can create a code snippert in php that take care of proxy authentication, no problem, but it would use the same authentication credentials for outside access for all users. I need some security guidance there…
