URGENT SECURITY UPDATE – JANUARY 2010

Just three problems.

  • Firstly the link although very well hidden, but nonetheless, was pointing at a url in a ".net" ending domain.
  • Secondly our IT department normally calls itself ITS
  • Thirdly the spam filter is, if anything, way TOO good – absolutely no need for any updates there – as this was my first spam in my spam box for a week, and I have the filter set on the absolute lowest level of filtering. It has even retained important mails for me in the past…

Also, no one I know in ITS would use the phrase "advanced server" or "premium security"

Nice timing though, given the Uni has been upgrading email servers for the last, erm, long period of time 🙂

I like the copyright bit best…

The mis-spelling in the subject line of the scam was the thing that first caught my attention.
