    What happened – I didn't notice anything?

Yup, I fielded some spam as well. I still don't like idea of arbritarily requiring people to be logged in to comment because it locks down the community which I seriously think will limit its effectiveness.

Would it be non-trivial to implement some sort of system whereby the user has to type in a sequence of alphanumeric glyphs from a distorted image as is implemented on some other sites? I know this has a proper name but I don't know what it is off the top of my head.

I've seen other sites refering to it as a Turing test, although it is kind of the other way around from the original Turing test. It might be a posibility…

I think it's called a 'captcha' which is an abbreviation for something long which basically meant the same thing as a Turing test of some sort. I think the problem with those though is that they're no good if you're blind.

I love spam (the meaty stuff).

Spam is great fried between two nice thick bits of white loaf, but I digress.

I don't know how major the spam issue is at present but how about a best of both worlds compromise at some point, if you make it so that the public can comment, any non-logged in user must go through CAPTCHA verification, but if you are logged in, you get to by-pass it. At the very least, it would be a reasonable stop gap. Any thoughts?

As an aside – is there any chance of getting RedGloo to send an e-mail notification when somebody comments on a post you have marked for tracking? it works on one's own blog but not on anybody elses.
